The area where the wells are located is located on the summits of Arafo, in the upper parts of the island and more specifically, the outer slope of the Caides of Teide. In Arafo the first two wells were built in 1750. Eight wells were located at the bottom of the Caldera de Pedro Gil, in the plain of 'Las Arenas ', the rest were at the summits of Arafo, at the top of the Central mountain range of the island u037E Two wells were in 'Guate me to ', another in 'La bold ', two in 'La Crack ' and another in 'Acasme '.

Snow was exploding in Tenerife since the mid-18th century. It was used for both consumption and commerce. Snow was used to preserve food, to make cold drinks and even ice cream.
The snow business was profitable in summer due to the shortage due to the thaw produced by high temperatures, which made the existing one on the ground disappear, which was collected by any citizen. Therefore winter was used to collect and store it.
Snow wells respond, in general, to the same typology, which experiences specific variations related to their depth, breadth, location and others, although all of them have cylindrical shape.

THE SNOW TREATMENT.

The exploitation of public mountain resources was an important source. THE CONSTRUCTION OF SNOW WELLS.

THE FILLING OF WELLS.

Before the first snows fell, usually towards the end of December, the wells had to be conditioned, repaired and provided with everything necessary for the conservation of snow. It is in areas of the summit and from the nearby pine forests, where the hauling of the pinillo used in the capping process takes place.
