In early 1869, residents of the Realejo Alto by popular subscription raised enough money to fix the ordeal of the church, the priest Don Domingo Mora was in charge of guarding the money but, when he was transferred from parish he took the money and the documentation of the managed creating this a great controversy between the neighbors. The mayor together with the neighbors tired of so many claims opts for a new collection to carry out the restoration.

Once the works are finished, a donation from the children of this town is received from Cuba to fix the aforementioned recently restored Calvary, while Mr. Mora delivers the money from the previous collection, thus obtaining a large sum. That is when the neighbors together with the mayor decided to buy a watch, asking the bishopric for permission to place it on the tower, the bishopric allows the placement of the clock machine on condition that it becomes the property of the church as long as the city council is committed to maintaining and preserving it.

Once all the accounts were presented by the mayor to the neighbors, he threw a deficit of 145 pesetas that were generously paid by Mayor Don Eliseo Gonz lez Espinola, leaving the entire town very grateful.
