On September 21 of the same year to be consecrated as bishop. Mayor of the city was Don Domingo Bello and of the Castle and Slave Mayor of Christ Don C ndido Lu s Garc a Sanjuan. On 19, the nuncio of SSMonse or Cicognani and the bishops of Cordoba and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria enter the doctors Gonz lez and Mendez Reigada and Pildain. It was ten in the morning when a Te Deum starts in the Cathedral. Two days later, on Sunday 21, at the touch of dawn, all the churches of the Diocese fly their bells announcing the extraordinary events of the day. Music bands from all the towns and cities roam the streets performing happy compositions. Shortly after half past seven in the morning, the image of San Pedro Ap stol, patron of the town of Gimar, cradle of the new Bishop Tinerfe, is received in La Laguna. At half past nine the episcopal consecration of Mr. Domingo P rez C ceres begins, which is sponsored by Mr. Blas P rez Gonz lez, Minister of the Government; by don Francisco garc a esc mez, captain general of the Canary Islands and by don Fernando Beautell Mel ndez to whom the church later distinguished with the pontifical title of Count of Santa Mar to Abona.
