The so-called ' Immortal Master ', is a central figure in the history of the insurgent America of the 19th century. Thinker, jurist, educator and poet are intimately linked to the Canary Islands for being a descendant of the Canaries and for their work in the process of political and intellectual independence of America, building bridges in particular between the Canary Islands, Venezuela and Chile. Andr s Bello was born in Caracas, Venezuela, on November 29, 1781 and died in Santiago, Chile on October 15, 1865.
Andr s Bello was one of the greatest humanists in Latin America, dedicated to literature, education, philology, philosophy, law. He practiced private teaching in Venezuela and had the honor of being a professor of Sim n Bol var. Accompany in his explorations, to the bar n Alejandro von Humboldt in his scientific explorations in the Colonies. Bello is the most representative figure of the Chilean and Latin American cultural advance of the first half of the 19th century. I admired and followed the libertarian politics of Victor Hugo and Lord Byron. He was a strong advocate of the purity and property of the Spanish language and, still, welcomed the popular turns to the extent that they did not collide with the terms traditional in use. It also gave him time to practice poetic creation, in which he showed a strong neoclassical influence.
