Previously known as the Camino de la Cruz de Piedra, in honor of the cross that stands at the very entrance of the city along the current Avenida de Los Menceyes, which connects with the general highway from La Laguna to Santa Cruz. The cross was first much higher up, where today is the Plaza de San Cristóbal, and it changed places until its current location. All this itinerary marks the old road that from Santa Cruz led to La Laguna, and which derives from the primitive road that the conquerors used to communicate the first camp of Añazo with Agüere. |
