In the historic center of Arona there is a hundred-year-old seedling specimen, with a height of nine meters, which is included in the Book of Monumental Trees of Tenerife. Atlantic Pistacia is a species native to the islands. It is a tree that, together with palm trees, dragon trees, junipers and a wide understory, forms part of what is called thermophilic forest, an open plant community that naturally populates the midlands of the islands in areas where the rainfall is not very high. . Currently very threatened since its natural distribution habitat coincides with the most populated areas and where urban development is greater.
