TRÍPTICO DE SANTIAGO

Villa de Los Realejos
- Bienes Muebles. Pintura -

Exceptional flamenco trip from Santiago, from the first quarter of the 16th century, attributed to the Delft master.

It was part of the group that occupied the primitive altar of the church, thus constituting the first altarpiece of the parish, although it does not appear documented until 1591.

Its random life over more than four centuries caused it to have reached our mutilated days, because today it is only this triptych, whose tables were discovered when serving as a table in a ventorrillo.

The central table represents the Apostle James the Elder as a pilgrim in a walking attitude carrying the bord n with the pumpkin in the left hand and the Holy Scriptures in the right.

The table on the right shows the apostle with his mother, kneeling and supplicating, with his two sons, Santiago and Juan, obsessing this characteristic Cal z de Cristo, represented with a landscape background.

In the last table, Christ is represented at the head of a group of disciples in diagonal perspective.

The Trico is located on the side wall of the Los Remedios Chapel.
