Erected on part of the old site that occupied the convent of San Andr s and Santa Mica, it was built in the twentieth century, specifically in 1920. It is carried out according to the project of architect Pelayo L fish Mart n-Pelayo at the initiative of Agust n Espinosa Chaves , mayor of the then Realejo Alto and cousin of the surrealist writer Agust n Espinosa Garc a. Architect Pelayo L pez Mart n u2013 Romero was characterized by oscillating between regionalism and abandonment of static approaches by attracting the new possibilities that the new constructive techniques offered. The cinema theater is made following rationalist guidelines, where at the beginning of the 20th century the architecture in the Canary Islands was immersed in different languages of multiple decorative and formal influences with academic, historicist and regionalist compositions. The avant-garde of the beginning of this century resulted in the creation of a new language. Rationalism, which lacks superfluous ornamentation with pure lines and a tendency to abstraction of forms and volumes, is incorporated into the new architectural models, starting from the new facade compositions until reaching the spatial conception of the new buildings. |

Raised on a rectangular floor, the property is characterized by a large interior space, contemplating and adapting the specific box for the double function of theater and cinema. The central part of the property is made up of the armchair area and the environment where the different necessary spaces are developed. On the north side of the box is located and under it are the dressing rooms, on the south side is the 'allinero ', the atrium and the projection room. The main facade is characterized by the orderly distribution of its openings, crossed by the pillars that support the building. The roof is gable made of zinc plates and with a false ceiling inside cardboard n stone. |
