The Holy Week of Los Realejos is a cluster of traditions forged in the faith and manifested every year in cults and celebrations inherited from centuries and that are combined with the newly created, in a merger that is characterized by its own uniqueness, marked by the orography of the municipality and the multiplication of parishes that are being established in each city. That Holy Week of past centuries, located in the parent parishes of the Apostle Santiago and Nuestra Sera de la Concepcion, has been diversified with the creation of the new parish entities of Our Lady of the Good Journey in Icod el Alto , Our Lady of Sorrows in Palo Blanco, Our Lady of Las Nieves in La Zamora, Saint Cayetano in La Monta eta, Our Lady of Carmen in Saint August and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Toscal Longuera. In all of them celebrations and cults take place during these days. Holy Week remains that moment of meeting of the population to attend the celebrations in the temples or accompany in the processions. Together with each parish, traditions such as the touch of the rattle, stewing the hard boiled eggs to support the long liturgical functions, or bringing the cages with canaries into Easter morning to brighten the temple on such an important day, were forged. But of that, little remains, although the healthy intention of the present generations have gradually wanted to revitalize these ancient ways that were present in the collective memory of the people.
