The square is one of the few public spaces existing in the municipality that have been less altered throughout history, along with the Plaza del Realejo Bajo. Located at the crossroads to the Port, La Carrera, La Zamora and the Ramblas coast, this urban space dates back to the 17th century. The first data of the square consist of the eighteenth century, but it is not until the early twentieth century when it acquires the current distribution, design and physiognomy, being at this time when it is named Garc a Estrada. |

With a rectangular plan and a strong diagonal tension that materializes in the route the four access stairs and the fountain that presides over the center of the square, the square constitutes a typical example within the typology to which it belongs. It creates spaces with concrete treatments in terms of materials and plant species, distributing the flower beds of various geometric shapes around the source. The organization and design of this public space, which intelligently connects the visitor between the different surrounding streets through it, provoke suggestive visuals and surprising sensations. The treatment of materials and textures reinforce the intentions and qualify the spaces correctly. Vegetable is composed of the square of leafy flowerbeds in which canary palms and Indian laurels stand out. |
