The Church of Our Lady of Carmen dates back to 1965 and stands on a plot of land where the Augustinian Recollect convent of San Andr and Santa Mica was built at the beginning of the 18th century under the auspices of the Regidor Don Juan de Gordejuela and disappeared after the dreadful fire that occurred in 1952. The church was built to venerate the image of the Virgen del Carmen, Honorary and Perpetual Mayor of Los Realejos and Patroness of the Orotava Valley. The canter a door of the chapel is preserved, made by the master Diego de Miranda, being incorporated into the main facade of the aforementioned Marian temple. The current church of Our Lady of Carmen, was designed by the architect Don Tom s Machado and Mendez de Lugo, born in La Orotava in 1908. The architect Tom s Machado and Mendez Ferndez de Lugo finished the Architecture degree in Barcelona in the course 1935/1936, being appointed chief architect of the Cabildo de Tenerife after the death of Marrero Regalado in 1956. Architect manages in his language more authentic elements within the post-war architecture prevailing at the time. Tom s Machado follows the Canarist lines, a peculiar style of ornate and monumental aspect that has been called 'olonary Baroque '.

The church stands on a rectangular floor or specifically the temple has a salt floor with bside on the head. It is the north zone the frontispiece is attached to the body of the church, generating a volume as a vestibule. The church is made up of three naves, accessing the main nave through the vestibule and developing the other two naves to its sides. In the aisles there is an upper, undulating gallery with railing and wooden handrails that reinterprets the theater boxes. The galler superior begins on both sides of the choir and is supported by Corinthian columns, resulting in a composite order. In the main nave a large semicircular arch frames the presbytery of two levels, one level with the main altar and the other superior with the niche of the Virgin. The whole of the church is covered with mud and pair knuckle covers, with braces and in the shape of a trough. It is built using traditional materials such as masonry, reinforced concrete and cement mortar. He emphasizes inwardly, in addition to his imagery, altarpieces, pulpits, altars and others, his lamps that follow avant-garde patterns.
