IGLESIA DE LA SANTA CRUZ

This construction was built in the eighteenth century on a previous building dedicated to the Holy Cross. Since 1929 he obtained the rank of parish, being and transformed into the next century. In the year 1713 there is a chapel that disappeared due to a great hall, and the cross could be rescued. The people of the area decided to place the battered enclosure in another place, building a hermitage, which is now the current church, whose building needed stones from the aforementioned ravine. According to local history, its beginnings seem to be associated with a legend of the year 1666, beginning of the month of flowers in the Payment of Higa (former denomination of the Holy Cross), when a rider from a nearby hacienda is about to cross the ravine that currently divides this center with the municipality of Lim Trophy, his horse was stopped and refused to go to the other side. The landowner hit the animal and he, in an act of rebellion, pulled him from his mount. The surprise of the Lord was such that, recovering from the fall, he saw that the horse was digging, and among stones and sand, discover a cross.
The rider, after this fact, had a chapel built on the mound called de la Suerte and left the cross found there.
