It is the color closest to blood and fire, and that is why it best symbolizes the fire of charity and the hero of martyrdom or sacrifice for Christ. It is used for Easter Sunday (Palm Sunday), Good Friday, Pentecost, feasts of the Holy Cross, apostles, evangelists and martyrs.
