This cross chapel is located at the top of the natural monument of the Mountain of Los Frailes, being the only existing building on top of this volcano. It belongs to the group of chapels dedicated to the diffusion and devotion to the Holy wood in Los Realejos. It is possibly the most popular chapel of the municipality, being a cultural and geographical reference point for the inhabitants of this area of the island, celebrated on May 3 the festivities in honor of the Cross, where a large Number of people who access the place by the track that ascends from the restaurant facilities where the old monastery of friars is located, and by the path of the southern slope and that of the northwest slope.



Capilla de Cruz de la Montaña

Construction of a single body, of limited dimensions, of rectangular plan, to which a small storage area is attached, both with flat roof. This chapel stands on a slab as a square, which is decorated with flags at parties. It has a simple front, in which there is a single opening, a semicircular arch that houses a cover that allows a view of the interior. The façade also presents a ncavo-convex front on which the wooden cross is placed, being on each side of this two diamond-pointed pilasters.
