On the initiative of the priest Don Hildebrando Reboso Ayala, in 1924 the tower of the church of San Juan Degollado began to be built, given the poor state that it offered to the old bell tower of the same with a double objective, to ensure the safety of the bells and contribute to the beautification of the temple.
The project was prepared by the prestigious architect Don Otilio Arroyo Herrera and its construction helped to enhance the whole church as the main architectural symbol of the urban center of Arafo, in whose shadow all the festivities of the town have been celebrated .
For this, the City Council gave the land and an amount in metal, while the rest of the expenses were assumed thanks to the donations of the said priest and the main families of the town, as well as the sale of raffles and the product of a bazaar, as well as a parish farm. The work ended in 1928, when it was blessed; in 1940 the Cross of the Ca two was placed, attached to his forehead; in 1943 the clock was installed, acquired in Vitoria; in 1975 the chapel of Sant simo Cristo del Valle was annexed; and finally, four spheres with the images of the patrons of the Villa were placed below the clock.

Following the initiative of Don Manuel Herrera, in 1943 Arafo's neighbors finally decided to buy a clock for the church tower. Quadrangular tower with three bodies separated by prominent cornices, dating from the early twentieth century is configured so that the first body has openings of openings as a typical, rectangular windows with a semicircular arch in the part upper and padded imitating ashlars. In the second body oblong rectangular openings are made topped by a semicircular arch, it presents a balustrade in a masonry and where the spheres with the images of the employers are located, in addition to containing the bells. The last body contains the spheres of the clock and where the tower is crowned by an octagonal spire topped by an arrow, in the support plane of the Spire the tower is crowned with rich corner sculptural forms.
