The first person to ask for a sacred place in the El Volc neighborhood was Juan P rez Marrero, who, although a chapel was already projected in the new cemetery.
In 1946, Vtor Servilio P rez, raised the idea of processionally moving the image of Our Lady of Carmen to that neighborhood, which the priest Mat as Batista D az, welcomed and promoted with enthusiasm. The process took place on July 18 of that same year and marked a milestone in the history of the neighborhood, since the idea of building a chapel that embraced the image emerged.
On the basis of this process, Vtor Servilio P rez, promoted a commission for the creation of said chapel and in 1948, by popular subscription, and on land ceded by the town hall, the construction of a hermitage dedicated to Our Lady of Carmen. It was built with white quarry blocks and a cement roof covered with corrugated tile; also has a sword for bell and altar of mamposter a. In 1949 it was almost finished and was blessed on July 21, 1953, giving its name to the neighborhood center.
After a later extension, on January 19, 2006, the hermitage became the current parish of Nuestra Sera del Carmen.

The church is erected by modern techniques on a rectangular plan characterized by being a rectangular plan of a single nave with an annexed sacrist and a small bell tower. The main nave rises high above the annexed nave, so it has a characteristic stepped facade. The set is covered with a sloping roof with two curved tile waters on a wooden structure. The rest of the set is carried out by means of modern construction techniques, but the buttresses that are located on the side facades are unique. The arrangement of the openings is ordered, according to a logical arrangement within the set.
