This Winery is located within the building present on Calle de La Libertad, 5. This building complex immersed in the historic center of Arafo, was dedicated to agricultural production during the 19th century, housing a warehouse complex and orchards that are currently missing. Since one of the most important urban interventions suffered by the municipality was the opening of the so-called Avda. Los Reyes de Espa a, from which the aforementioned wineries and orchards were affected, disappearing to form the new v. The building complex still has an old beam winery inside, which should be noted, the constitution of the winery (container where the grape is deposited to be pressed) since it is made of a single piece of a centenary Canarian pine. This element was always associated with the cultivation of the vine an economic activity that in the Canary Islands reached its peak between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Because of its fame, the Canarian wines crossed the borders of Spain to serve in Europe and in the Spanish and Portuguese colonies of America and Africa. The agriculture and more specifically the elaboration of the agricultural products, exerted a great influence in the development of the machinery of the classic times, being the Winery Canarian peak result of the evolution of the presses of beam used by the Greeks. |
