From the late fifties until well into the late sixties of the last century there were two female groups of pulse and pa in Arafo, pioneers in the Canary Islands: 'A da ' and 'Las Mary u2019s ', both founded by the teacher Carmen Tejera Rodr guez and her husband, the Don Juan Ramos Rodr guez, although they followed different directions and maintained a healthy rivalry.

Half a century after its dissolution, on February 11, 2012, a well-deserved tribute was paid to both groups in the Auditorium 'Juan Carlos I ' of the Villa de Arafo, organized by Rondalla 'Ayesa ', with the In order to remember with affection or its passage through the stages, since both already occupy in their own right a place of honor in the rich musical history of this town.

It was probably the first female group of pulse and pa created in the Canary Islands. In its 10-year history, from 1957 to 196 7, it began as a quintet to immediately increase up to eight members, then reduce to a tr o and, finally, consolidate as a set of about ten components.

In 1956, the teacher Arafera do a Carmen Tejera Rodr Guez decided to create a children's musical ensemble of pulse and pa with the students of her school and, although she does not know music or have much or do, she had the invaluable help of her husband , Don Juan Ramos Rodr guez, who played the piano, had a similar purpose and organized festivals in schools run by his wife, with exquisite taste. But since he did not master the stringed instruments, they contacted Don Lu s Curbelo Rodr guez, who began to give a group of children the first notions of Solfeo and then instruments.

After a few months of rehearsal, under the artistic direction of Don Juan Ramos and do Carmen Tejera, and the musical of Don Lu s Curbelo, they debuted before the public of Arafo on May 23, 1957, on the occasion of the acts prior to the solemn Coronation of the Sea to Auxiliary u037E and they did it under the name of 'A gives ' that Don Juan had given them and with whom they will remain throughout their trajectory. In 1959 the group suffered a crisis and practically dissolved, due to the death of one of the components, Emma Pacheco, and the withdrawal of both her sister Risela Pacheco and Risela Marrero, who also did not want to follow. But at that juncture, two of the components decided to continue acting, breaking their ties with the founders, do Carmen and Don Juan, since they slowed down many performances and the girls' wishes to make themselves known abroad. This is how the 'Tr or A da ', of an instrumental nature, was composed of C lida Alzola (in the d) and Viri Rodr guez (in the bandurria), as well as his former professor, Don Lu s Curbelo (on guitar) u037E with this composition performed at numerous Art parties, performing classical music, both in Arafo and in other locations on the island, including Tejina (in La Laguna) and Tacoronte.

The following year the group increased with Cecilia Rodr Guez, as singer u037E Leonila Pestano, Mercedes P rez and ngeles Rivero, on guitars u037E Roselia Curbelo, on d u037E and Zoila P rez, on the mandolin. The women's pulse group was reorganized and 'A gives ' which, apart from the school, began to develop an intense activity under the musical direction of Don Luis Curbelo, also having the presentation and artistic direction by Mr. Octavio Miguel P rez Rivero. For a short period, the girls of the 'A group of ' acted together with the boys of the rondalla of the Local Delegation of the Youth Front. The main action in this unified stage was carried out in 1961, on the occasion of the variety show u201 Youth Legistries ', mounted for the benefit of the parish u037E the artistic direction and presentation was in charge of the aforementioned Mr. Octavio Miguel P. rez Rivero, while Mr. Lu s Curbelo Rodr Guez was responsible for the musical direction. This art stomusical event, which according to the programs and posters had a luxurious presentation and promise two hours of 'alegr and good humor ', was sponsored by the Local Delegation of Youth of the town of Arafo.

According to the program, the components of the artistic cast were: Cida Alzola, Zaidita Albertos, Florita Rodr Guez, Nena Afonso, Cecilia Rodr Guez and Lalita P rez, plus six boys: F lix Lu s Gonz lez, Nicol s Santana, Angelito Fari a, Mart n Rodr guez, Fernando Garc and Roberto Curbelo, in addition to Jos Miguel P rez as reciter.

As of 1962, the female group of pulse ypa 'A gives ' began to act again alone, under the artistic direction of Mr. Miguel P rez Rivero and the musical of Mr. Antonio Curbelo Rodr guez, who took over from his Brother Lu s, although occasionally also directed by Mr. Juan Luis s Coello Rodr guez, in the absence of Mr. Antonio. In January 1963, this female ensemble set up her first solo show, which she took for the title 'Ecos de Primavera '. The artistic direction and presentation will be in charge of Miguel P rez Rivero, the musical direction corresponding to Antonio Curbelo Rodr guez.

This show was presented, like the previous ones, in the Casino 'Uni ny Progreso ' of Arafo on the 18th and 19th of that month, following two performances in Tacoronte, Valle de Guerra, Tejina, G mar, Tegueste, etc. u037E as well as in the Friendship Circle XII of January and Radio Club Tenerife, of the capital of Tenerife a.
