In 1900 the springs accounted for almost one hundred percent of the available flows. Those springs, however, have been disappearing in recent years. The galleries and to a lesser extent the wells have been the cause of the shortening of the flows. Only springs remain in those places less punished by the galleries. Prior to the 20th century, the number of galleries was reduced, with the increase in the number of galleries beginning in the twentieth century due to the increase in production processes (bananas, tomatoes, potatoes, etc.). Of the more than 500 years since the arrival of the conquerors on the Island, only in the last 75 years do the springs, fountains and springs lose importance, as the main water supply for the different uses and uses.
