CALLE LA LIBERTAD, Nº 25

Villa de Arafo
- Arquitectura Civil y Doméstica. Arquitectura Doméstica Urbana -

This building is located in the historic Isabel II street, currently called La Libertad, whose layout lines correspond to an ancient aboriginal transhumant road that connects to the summit and the coast of the Gimar Valley.
This street connects the Plaza de San Juan Degollado with the old Plazuela del Llano, and through it came much of the public and economic life of Arafo running in both directions the cars that communicated this population with the rest of the regions of the island. In it during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries new buildings were erected that housed public functions (casinos, town hall ...) that coexisted with the historic buildings dedicated to the agricultural holdings so present in the municipality.
This construction is probably dated in the nineteenth century, due to the placement of its openings, although it has undergone reforms in a few years later.

Housing between medians, built following the orography of the land, rectangular and with two heights, with four openings maintaining the vertical axis between them.
The main facade consists of a door and three windows, one of them located on the ground floor and two on the upper floor.
The double-leaf door is hinged with a lock comb and meeting post, in addition to two rectangular boards on each of the sheets. The door jambs are simple billing wooden slats.
The lower window, formed by three parts, a fixed wooden sill, two swinging leaves with frames, and a double glass sheet split by a vertical baquetilla.
As for the upper windows, they are of different construction, being a guillotine type, with eight glasses per window, and the other double folding leaf with guillotine sheets inside. In both cases they have a wooden sill and finished off with a frame with grooves, which give greater strength to the total window assembly.
The facade ends in a parapet with a wooden balustrade, in one part of the roof and with a stone sill in the other.
The set is covered with a three-water roof, located behind the wooden balustrade, and a flat roof, behind the straight parapet.
