This advocacy dates back to the 17th century and was built under the patronage of Lucas Guti Melrez. The hermitage retains the titular image of the seventeenth century that arrived on the island from Portugal. The Christ on the cross shows his characteristic hair of natural hair that reaches almost to the waist. This sculpture presides over the acts of Holy Week. The temple of the True Cross was linked to a hospital, during the seventeenth century. The hermitage was later enriched by receiving two canvases that were installed on the side altars. These represent the Betrothal of Mar a and San Jos that belonged to the hermitage of San Jos, in the valley that bears his name and, the Coming of the Holy Spirit , the canvas holder of the hermitage that was dedicated to the holy spirit of Teguise.

Inside, the wooden choir, the carved pipito of the 19th century, the baptismal font of basic stone and the altarpiece of a single niche, with the Cristo de la Vera Cruz, of Portuguese invoice purchased by the Capit n Lucas Gutierrez Meli n for the value of 100 ducats (before 1661).

The temple is rectangular with a sacrist attached to its right side. Being a single ship, it is a temple of considerable dimensions, with high-rise walls.

The ship is supported by high walls with thick buttresses. Outside, the canter is used in the corners and in the large semicircular arch of the door of the main facade, which has a bishop of great value.

The pre-Elizabethan-style sword sits in the central part of the front and has two small bells. The roof is of two waters, of wood covered with cake and adobe, and scalloped by a row of tiles.
