This large palm tree is located at the intersection between Dr. Jos Naveiras street and M ndez N ez street. This monumental plant species is included in the protection catalog of the PGO of Santa Cruz (Volume 3.3, page 177). This Canarian palm tree (Phoneix Canariensis) is said to have been guarapeada at the beginning of the 20th century by a person nicknamed u2018guarapo u2019 and lives near the Quisisana Hotel, in a farmland. The gaps of when it was beaten are observed in the upper part, which helps in the dating of the palm itself. It is estimated that the palm tree could be around 150 years old. At its base, 7 smaller palm trees were planted, which have already been removed because they pose a danger to the main palm. |
