The 'Monument to Diego Guigou and Costa ' is a sculpture made by Francisco Borges Salas at the end of the 20th century. This work is intended to honor the pediatrician Don Diego Guigou y Costa by the children of the island, as he was the founder of the Children's Hospital of the city of Santa Cruz. In the first place it was placed in the central gardens of the Garc Park in Sanabria, but currently, the monument is located precisely on the inner promenade of the Park that bears the name of the author of the work, at the entrance by Numancia Street. |

It is a quadrangular base prism with concrete factory where a bronze plaque with the profile of the honoree appears surrounded by a series of decorations that describe scrolls and the municipal shield of Santa Cruz de Tenerife framed by two large wings that are extend to half of the plate. In the upper part of the effigy of Doctor Guigou, a six-pointed star appears and in the lower part an hourglass, which can refer to the more unique symbology. This plaque is completed with the following inscription: 'Los ni os de Tenerife to Dr. Guigou ' . In its origins, this pedestal supported the statues of two putti that had previously been placed in the lower part of the Candelaria Triumph. At present, these sculptures have disappeared and a metallic base has been added to the pedestal with an inscription signed by Diego Crosa and that reads as follows: 'H There are men who should not die, but be eternal, to said of his own, to the glory of his people '.
