Although there are no data on its construction, the Ruiz Arteaga House, as this two-story house is known located near the Plaza de la Candelaria, is documentation on a reform to be made to Antonio Pintor in the 19th century , in 1898. Jos Ruiz Arteaga was known in the city for being an important merchant and farmer, whose prosperous businesses, such as the warehouse at the dock dedicated to the exhibition and sale of naval effects and the Baiz de Ruiz on the ground floor, they earned him to acquire this property on the busy Calle del Castillo. In addition to being known for his business, Ruiz was the driving force behind the use of iron in 19th-century architecture, since he was also the representative of the Seville-based company Fundici San Antonio owned by P rez Hermanos.

Currently, the house houses shops on both floors, and has undergone different transformations to adapt the building to different uses.

Casa de Ruiz Arteaga

This two-storey house that had previously been used as a warehouse, exemplifies the romantic classicist style of the 19th century, and according to Darias Pr ncipe, its typology is closer to that of a local master of works, little linked with the great architects of the century like Ora or Painter.

The façade is symbolic and is composed of a z calo and two levels, separated by a dividing molding. Both on the ground floor and on the upper floor, three openings are opened, aligned according to vertical axes, in which a glass lookout from the beginning of the 20th century stands out on the main cover in its central part. The side windows have a small laundry balcony.

In the coronation of the building, we appreciate a large ledge and in its upper part, the smooth parapet of the roof floor.
