The altarpiece is composed of three masonic niches, in which the images of the titular Saint are located, next to San Jos and San Francisco. The image of Saint John the Baptist was brought from the peninsula in 1584, although it was provisionally placed in the church of the convent of Las Claras. This image was restored in 1891, and the ancient altarpiece in which it could be seen originally disappeared in 1955.
