JUAN P REZ DELGADO (NIJOTA) (1898-1973) Work commissioned by the Orfe n La Paz of La Laguna to the sculptor Francisco Borges Salas (1901-1994) in homage to the journalist and poet lagunero. It was inaugurated on November 9, 1975, being located in the Plaza de La Concepci n of San Crist bal de La Laguna. Juan P rez Delgado was born in the Concepcion neighborhood in La Laguna, when the war in Cuba. I studied Law, an activity that I did not develop professionally because I was dedicated to journalism being, among other positions, editor of the newspaper La Prensa and editor in chief of El D a. Cultivate with success theater, poetry and narrative. His first play, Mariquilla, premiered in 1927 and the following year Love by bicycle. His humorous verses had a great reception in the press and public of the islands. |

Bust made of bronze, measures 60x54x40 cm and is placed on a factory pedestal lined with stone material measuring 159x80x60 cm. In the front area of the pedestal there are two bronze plaques placed, one with the logo of the Orfeón La Paz de La Laguna and another with its name. |
