GUILLERMO PERERA LVAREZ (1865-1926) Bust that stands up to the lagoon poet at the initiative of the journalist Leoncio Rod guez Gonz lez. Sponsored by the City Council of San Crist Bal de La Laguna, and financed by popular subscription, the sculptor Miguel M rquez Pe ate (1911-1975) is commissioned. It was inaugurated on January 27, 1952 in the Plaza del Adelantado. They say of Guillermo Perera that he was a good and modest man. Sing to Princess Dil, the Guanches, the Menceyes and even a blank sheet of paper, according to Alvarez Cruz. |

The bust is made of bronze, in natural size, with dimensions of 76x48x30 cm; It stands on a stone pedestal measuring 195x84x62 cm, decorated with details of the Canarian flora (cardón on a shield) and verses from the poet himself: ("May the pleasant echoes of my land always reach my ears.") |
