It is located on the west side of the Church, it was formerly known as "Plaza de Santa Mar a de la Antigua". Along with it, we will go to the road from the Port of Santa Cruz, which crossed Herradores Street and continued towards the interior of the island. However, the greatest influence of the Plaza de la Concepcion made it remain a secondary public space, hence it was known as a square there or square on the other side. The current name is received in honor of the former director of the Dolores Hospital, Manuel Esteban Olivera, for his work during the influenza epidemic that hit La Laguna in 1918 and for which he died. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the square regained its prominence, since it was located in the stop of the old guo tram and, later, that of the buses. It is already in the 21st century when the square reaches its maximum prominence thanks to the Special Protection Plan of the Historic Center of La Laguna that pedestrianizes the streets that flow into the square with a remarkable result of commercial and social activity.
