The Order

A month before the party, the Commissions of each neighborhood voluntarily formed each year, begin their work by organizing the pedicheros who travel the town requesting economic help from the neighbors. Only half of the money raised is used in expenses of the Heart itself, being the most expensive section the purchase of flowers for the bouquet. The surplus is used in events organized by each street ...

The cakes

The preparation of the heart begins with the preparation of cakes. The cakes are one of the decorative elements of the three hearts most appreciated for their originality and artistic values, representing various prints; religious, constumbristas, agricultural, folk rich, vegetables, animals, etc. They are approximately 30 cm in diameter and are made with a dough of flour and water.

The Branch and the Cut

On Friday at dawn, the Commissions go up to Mount Tegueste, with the permission of the City Council, equipped with machetes and cut the beech branch that has traditionally been put to the Heart since it is remembered.

The operation of the cut consists in eliminating with a handsaw the pieces of branches that protrude from the structure of the Heart. The cut is improved with a flange made in the same way as the branches, but less thick and therefore more flexible.
