The museum is a large oval concrete space with access, services and complementary spaces arranged in the perimeter of this large nave, where the Center's museum content is located. The facade, finished with a cladding of red volcanic stone slabs, has a curved profile that adapts to the road layout. In the Agust n de Betancourt square of about 1000 m2, there is a large parabolic radio astronomy antenna that presides over this public urban space. This is about 18 meters in diameter, and on the surface an area of the lunar surface is represented that represents elevations called 'Montes Tenerife ' in memory of Piazzi Smith, the first astromo who observed the Universe from the summits of the Island This large terrace also has a small telescope and an equatorial solar clock, as well as a Wi-Fi and rest area. The interior of the Museum, which is accessed by large concrete stairs, is a large oval area where different modules are arranged. The central area is intended for permanent exposure, and other sections that are on the sides are: the teaching workshop, the optical effects section, the Chroma Key room, the mirror maze, the astronomy room a, the planetarium, a room dedicated to temporary exhibitions, events hall and a rest area. |
