The Hermitage of San Juan Bautista was founded in the 17th century, exactly in 1628. It was under the patronage of the governor and captain general of the province of the Canary Islands, nephew of the founders Maria and Cablina de Vargas. Later he passed by inheritance to the family of Tabares. In Bajamar there is also the Hermitage of Great Power, built in 1881 by Don Jos Dom nguez Romero. It has been a subsidiary of the Punta del Hidalgo church since 1960, and is used as a multipurpose room for neighbors' meetings and an exhibition hall. In Bajamar there were two more hermitages that have disappeared: that of Our Lady of Loreto founded in 167 and that of St. Stephen, built in 1691 in memory of Don Esteban de Sopranis.
