The bullfighters have not been very fond of bullfights, although they were held historically and on numerous occasions in La Laguna, without sacrificing the animal. It was difficult for the islanders to have brave bulls for the so-called u201 National Party ' and high were the costs of it.
There were several attempts in Santa Cruz to establish a bullring, but they failed until 1892 when, to this end, a limited company was created that began the construction of this facility on the outskirts of the city, on the ravine 11 February, better known for the Paseo de los Coches and later Rambla General Franco today called Rambla de Santa Cruz.
The square was inaugurated on February 28, 1893 with the performance of right-handed Luis Mazzantini and his crew, whose mine reached fifty thousand pesetas, exactly half of what the construction of the square had cost.
Bad luck had this business for the art of bullfighting, since since 1901, among other things, it was used as a merchandise store.
There have been magicians dances, bicycle races, music festivals, political clubs, Canarian wrestling, carnival festivals, boxing matches.
On the night of May 1, 1924 a fire is declared that destroys much of the square.
The Animal Protection Law tipped the Bullring.
Currently (2017) the enclosure is closed with serious conservation problems.
