PER ADRIANO (IGOR MITORAJ)

This sculpture shows the two faces of the theater, comedy and tragedy, on the one hand one face, on the other, another. It changes as you walk around it, Igor plays with the perspective in this sculpture, and a mandatory stop in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Per Adriano is a work done in bronze that represents a human face of perfect proportions and features, the work does not settle directly on the ground but rests on a prism and on another irregular base. The face being not fully developed and missing pieces produces the effect of unfinished, but at the same time in those gaps the facade of the building that is immediately placed at its back is introduced, and that is the Guimer Theater. This face could have different readings due to the addition of funds, curtains that offer its possible location changes. Despite its current place is in perfect harmony with the relationship of the staging and the place where it takes place, the theaters.

Igor Mitoraj (Oederan, currently Germany, 1944) Polish sculptor who died on October 6 at the Saint-Louis de Paris hospital, where he was being treated for a serious illness. Known throughout the world for his gigantic bronze and marble sculptures, Mitoraj denounced the neglect and abandonment suffered by the masterpieces of ancient times, through lying male busts, fractured heads and split members. Student of the painter, graphical scene and theater director Tadeusz Kantor, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where he grew up, Mitoraj moved to Paris at the end of the sixties and in 1983 opened a workshop in the Tuscan town of Pietrasanta, the two cities that have paid him the last honors.
