LADY TENERIFE (MARTÍN CHIRINO)

It can be defined as a set of wavy segments that communicate in space with each other, with a clear intention of movement. The work is located in front of the hill that sits at the limits of the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and right next to the college of architects. It was designed so that its forms and its bright red color create the perfect contrast to highlight its place of stay, its immediately neighbor the building adjacent to it with clearly formalistic forms with straight planes and basic forms. They also highlight the complex forms of Lady Tenerife and its austere but authentic background of the city as the name implies.

Mart n Chirino was born on March 1, 1925 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He began his studies at the academy of the sculptor Manuel Ramos of his hometown. Later he entered the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, in addition he was part of the 'el pass ' settled in Madrid, current that tried to find new aesthetic thoughts and culminated with the proposed postulates of the artists including three Canarian artists Thanks to the work of his father (ship metallurgy) he had the opportunity to be in contact with the African culture where you can appreciate these influences in his mature work, developing a work in a principle less decisive and more organic to a consideration of the more synthesized form, as can be seen in the 'ladys ' series. His works usually tend to expand the form, as if each piece wishes to embrace the space it inhabits. Currently his pieces are collected throughout the globe, including prominent museums such as: Madrid Circle of Fine Arts, Galerie Stefan R pke. Cologne, Grace BorgenichtGallery. New York.etc
