In the 1965 poster signed by Juan Jos Abad -pepe Abad- (La Laguna, Tenerife, 1942). We are in this case before the work of a plastic artist, who focuses his career directly and fully towards the world of art, and with an equally clear commitment to contemporary art in which he has reached a prominent place within the sculpture, not only of the Canary Islands, but also of the Spanish sculpture of the second half of the 20th century. Pepe Abad drinks among other sources of reference, design and advertising graphics, where appropriate the avant-gardes of the first quarter of the 20th century, such as Italian Futurism and Fortunato depero ads, and futuristic poems by Ardengo Soffici, for the treatment of the commercial texts of Alexander Rodchenko and posters also of Vladimir lebedev. It is therefore, this poster of Pepe Abad, an exception, more in the early date of the sixties, the authoritarian regime in force, with its isolation especially for culture and art.
