Islas (Jaume Plensa)

Islands is a set of 73 boxes of black aluminum, methacrylate and ne n suspended by steel cables in the branches of trees, what draws attention is the contrast produced first between the dense and chaotic foliage of nature and regular boxes with random placement, but within an order. In turn, the work can have two readings taking into account what time (from the point of view of solar lighting) we contemplate them. With natural light, the boxes without being lit seem almost phantom rich objects, they become entities suspended in time or space and can be confused with tree branches, but at night with their own lighting, which allows you to read the text contained in each box take on another meaning, the names take us back to beings who have lived very close to our contemporary world and who, in opposition to their own names, can partially contemplate in a subjective way what the art world has been for all the 20th century There is an authentic symbiosis between art and public space.
