The work belonged to the II International Exhibition of Street Sculpture. A cultural event that took place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1994, organized by the Official College of Architects of the Canary Islands, in collaboration with the Island Council, City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Caja Canarias, in which various works were exhibited that Even today they are in the capital of Tenerife, except for the work of 'Hombre a Caballo ' , by Fernando Botero, which was the only one returned. The artist made this work in homage to the prisoners of Fyffes, as it appears on the commemorative plaque : 'A the memory of those who suffered persecution, jail and death in the criminal 'Faife ' (Fyffes). Fyffes was an English company located in the Canary Islands and dedicated to the export of banana to Europe. Several of its stores were used in Santa Cruz de Tenerife during the Civil War as a military prison or concentration camp. |

On a concrete base, the sculpture consists of three pieces of marked geometry that are kept in balance thanks to the interaction with each other. Two elements of strong verticality, of which only one of them maintains it, the other being braked in its fall by a metallic piece of acute vertices. Mar a Bel n Morales (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, November 27, 1928 - August 28, 2016), was a Spanish sculptor and painter. In 1948 he entered the Superior School of Fine Arts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The portrait of the sculptor Roberto Barrera allowed him to obtain the Third Medal at the Regional Exhibition of the University of La Laguna in 1951. In his honor he created the documentary Aeroevasiones, made around the sculptor tinerfe a Mar a Bel n Morales. |
