It was commissioned by the Pe a Rambla Pulido, at the initiative of the journalist Luis Ramos, of the newspaper 'La Tarde '. The financing was obtained through two auctions organized in collaboration with Radio Popular Tenerife. Later it was donated to the Hon. Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Hall. F lix Rodr guez de la Fuente was a Spanish naturalist and environmental disseminator, defender of nature, and producer of documentaries for radio and television, highlighting among them the successful and influential series The Man and the Earth (1974-1980). Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Valladolid and self-taught in biology, he was a versatile character of great charisma whose influence has endured despite the passing of the years. His knowledge covered fields such as falcon and ethology, standing out in the study and coexistence with wolves. I also worked as an expeditionary, guide of photographic safaris in Africa, lecturer and writer. I contributed greatly to the ecological awareness of Spain at a time when the country still did not have a movement to defend nature. Its impact was not only nationally but also internationally and it is estimated that its television series, broadcast in numerous countries and fully in force today, have been seen by several hundred million people. He died in Alaska, United States, along with two collaborators and the pilot when the aircraft that transported them crashed while making a real film for one of his documentaries. |
