The 2009 poster continued in a technique similar to that of the previous year, this time by Gonzalo Luis Alvarez Fern Ndez (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1972), painter, draftsman and illustrator. A colossal trapeze artist, Frankenstein's face with a red mask, and a monstrous Dancer title, stands imposingly, marking a few steps as a classical dancer, with delicate pink dress, bra, tut and even angelic wings. It should be noted that, in the 2009 edition, whose motto was The Horror Cinema, there was a novel and unprecedented circumstance in the history of the posters of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and that is that the selected work arose of a public contest, to which one hundred and four articles were presented with one hundred and eleven works. The winning artist, from a jury composed of six members (one artist, one designer, four politicians and one secretary), also won a prize of 9,000 euros (1,500,000 of the old pesetas)
