Marcel Mart was born in Alvear, Argentina, in 1925; Three years later, he moved with his family to Barcelona. The success of his first exhibition led him to form in Paris in the forties. After having experimented with painting, he definitely opts in the fifties for the sculpture that makes him win different awards. He exhibited in galleries such as the Marlborough in London, the Ren Metras in Barcelona, in collective exhibitions at the Rodin Museum in Paris, the Kunsthelle in Nuremberg u2026etc.

After a figurative stage, from 1958 it evolves towards abstraction. However, in the mid-sixties he resumed natural, organic forms, developing a more human language, full of symbolism.

Experiment with very diverse materials, such as iron, bronze, steel, limestone and marble.

The expressionist character of his works, he considered that his production would approach informalism, since it is an abstract language in which materials have a decisive role.

According to him, I affirm 'La sculpture means for me the transcendent meaning of the subject, where I try to capture my intuitions and experiences for an extra affinity in the physical dialogue of the world itself to the land ' . Cirlot observed the possibility of entrenching him to surrealism.
