This sculpture was part of the I International Exhibition of Street Sculpture. A cultural event that took place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife between December 1973 and January 1974. Organized by the Official College of Architects of the Canary Islands, it is one of the best exhibitions of abstract art, consisting of large-scale works and remarkable visual power and aesthetic.

The sculpture underwent a restoration in 2010, thanks to the project Adopt a sculpture.



El Reloj de la muerte

Work constituted by a parallel sculpture composed of three superimposed cubic modules. In the upper module rest the remains collected from the scrap of a Convair Coronado aircraft that exploded on December 3, 1972 before taking off at the Los Rodeos Airport, Tenerife, protruding on both sides of the sculpture that supports them. From its center, chains of different lengths hang, one of which holds another element of the sinister apparatus, which falls at the level of the lower module.

Jos Abad, sculptor born on September 24, 1942 in San Crist bal de la Laguna. This contemporary sculptor has a great interest in the recycling material for the realization of his works. The work of this artist is influenced by Chirino for whom he worked in the 70s. In 1961 he made his first show rich sculpture in the II Regional Exhibition of Fine Arts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
