Building of a single-family character located in the lower area of the Rambla, in a place where it was intended, given the importance of the road, that constructions of a certain category will be carried out. The project of this building was prepared by Jos Enrique Marrero Regalado in 1938 for Concepci n Pedreira in a clear regionalist style. It is the first project for single-family housing in which Marrero resorts to the type of hotel-housing through a clearly typical language of popular traditions and the design, rich by the way, of elements with materials used in traditional architecture. To this, we must add the importance attached to color, resulting in a clear expression of picturesqueness in its most exotic and imaginative aspect. Residential building implanted on a plot located at a higher level than the street level. It consists of a main body of two floors and a tower n of four floors, covered by a roof with four waters, which articulates the volumetr a of the main body. It is accessed laterally through a covered corridor to an interior distribution hall which is flanked by the main rooms, living room, library and dining room and from there the main staircase that leads to the upper floor. In the composition of the facade the alignment on vertical axes of openings of different proportions and shapes, and wooden balconies, stand out. Elements of interest: Tower n and balcony n. |
