The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife had its beginning under the name of ' Winter Festivities in 1991 . The preparations were made in such a hurry for reasons of reigning censorship in the time that did not give time to make the poster of the festivities, as Juan Galarza confesses, then responsible for making this first carnival announcement that he designed with a cover for the Acts Program, in which an umbrella crosses the composition from left to right of the cover crowned by a cheerful representation of the sun, on the umbrella's grip.
